Throughout its history, Southlands’ extraordinary landscape has been open to the public. Trails for hiking, bird watching and cross country skiing are made available whenever possible. Since December 1987, a conservation easement donated to Scenic Hudson protects the farm so that it will remain forever green.

In the late thirties, teaching was what I could do. Land, animals, and people were what I understood. Combining my ability with my interests, the Southlands developed into a unique school aiming to teach all ages respect and love for the land and its animals both wild and tame.
