Interpretive Walk & Craft for Children: A Horse’s Life at Staatsburgh
From spirited thoroughbreds to sturdy work horses and gentle cart ponies, Staatsburgh was an equine world. Join us for a children’s hike on the grounds of Staatsburgh and learn the many roles that horses played on a Gilded Age estate. The 30-minute walk concludes with a craft: children will paint a plaster horse to bring home.
After attending the program here, horse lovers can get a free barn tour and see live horses at the nearby Southlands Foundation. Southlands, a horse farm and riding school, is located at 5771 US Route 9, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
